Hi, My name is David McGlinnchy, in all probability you have never heard of me. Nothing strange there. I never had a blog, I never had a "list", I never post on forums (ever), I never use social networking sites, I like my privacy, I like my family, I enjoy my semi-retirement. Recently I have been helping another top UK affiliate on, let's say his "hobby". I noticed from mails he showed me how people had been very grateful for the help he was giving to a big cross section of UK "noob" affiliates. Almost as a joke I said "I should do that" he agreed, then we had a bet. The bet was that I could (or couldn't) write a brief blog style site that would start to generate "interested visitors" from word-of-mouth. So I'm sharing some very fundamental tips with you. Tips that can make all the difference between success and failure. My challenge is to have this site pulling 2000 visitors per day without using ANY of my own sites as links to help with seo. Ok, I choose the name profitable keywords. It makes sense; everyone wants to know what are profitable keywords. My task now is to tempt you with very useful, quality information about the affiliate marketing sector in the UK. More importantly about how to think about finding profitable keywords. So let's see :-) Having been incredibly successful in affiliate marketing both in the UK and USA since around the beginning of 2000 I'm now semi retired and have decided to share some of my most basic principles in finding profitable keyword strategies. The information I cover is aimed mainly at young guys who are just begining to discover the wonders of affiliate marketing. My background is this: School (1 o'level), fork-lift truck driver, Polytechnic (mature student), retail sales rep, affiliate marketing, semi-retired (at 37). I'm still a young 37 years old and have made a significant fortune from selling real products via affiliate networks in both the UK and USA. Whilst I know from experience that the USA is about 2 years behind the UK in terms of affiliate marketing of real products (the US is bogged down in the affiliate marketing of "info products" and "e-books") it still represents a much larger opportunity to UK based affiliates than the UK market for real products does. Why? Because like I said the USA is 2 years behind the UK in the "real product" sector. It is easier to make money because of that; less competition from guys like me, a market 5 times bigger than the UK, adwords totally under exploited, keyword optimization for free SEO purposes probably 3 years behind the UK. Hard to believe? Trust me I KNOW! So am I reccommending to UK "noobs" that you should try the US rather than the UK? NO I am NOT. Over the years I have met many "noob" affiliates, I have tried to help them as much as possible (some are now Super Affiliates) and the one over riding factor in all this is "psychology". There is a huge barrier when it comes to the "psychology" of a UK based guy trying to work in the US field. You don't know the first thing about the networks, you don't know the first thing about the merchants. The opportunities are screaming "Accessory Warehouse", "Tweeter", "Vanns", "Mogiz" your brain is thinking; "Firebox", "I Want One Of Those", "Play.com", "Tesco", "Asda", "Comet"... it just doesn't work. Stick to the UK, think outside the box, read these pages on; profitable keywords, PPC or Pay Per Click marketing e.g. Google Adwords; paid advertising or clicks and SEO or Search Engine Optimization to find profitable kewywords. Think outside the box! Update April 2008: Let me just mention some very important software I have been testing for almost a year now: the Untapped SEO system. You may have already heard about this on forums etc. If you haven't I cannot reccommend this highly enough. This affiliate software is being used by some of the UK's TOP affiliates. Guys on the UK affiliate network head-hunter lists. It is also being used very profitably by a wide selection of "affiliate noobs". If you are smart and sign up today be sure to go straight to the Untapped forum and check out what the users are saying about the software. What amazed me about the users forum is the fact that you can stick a post up asking for some free one way links and you get 'em the same day! This is a very tightly nit forum community with a strong sense of comeradery. What makes them different to 90% of you is that they know the secret to finding Untapped profitable keywords. On top of that they have the awesome software at their disposal to create websites and landing pages in minutes rather than hours. Imagine if Wordpress or DeamWeaver had price comparison functions and other affiliate tools. Imagine if you could copy one page from one wordpress site to another by clicking 1 button.
